A lot of patients have been asking me about
Swine Flu (H1N1) since it's getting plastered all over the news. So I'd like to share with you a few pieces of information.
1) As of May 4th, 226 cases have been reported in the US, with one death.2) That death was a 23-month-old baby from Mexico.3) There are ~36,000 flu-related deaths in US each year... And yet the media is milking this new strain as if it's the "end of days."Tamiflu is NOT a treatment for H1N1. There is no vaccine for H1N1. This is not the first time Swine Flu has vacationed in America... It also visited us in 1976, and only
one person died from it then as well.
(Be aware that over 25 people died from the vaccine that was used to treat it during that time period.)The things you can do to prevent this are the same things you can do to prevent a lot of common illnesses... Wash your hands. Stay away from rude people who don't cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze.
Take measures to naturally enhance your immune function... Exercise. Eat
fruits and vegetables. Take your Vitamin-C and Vitamin-D supplements. Align your spine (
chiropractic adjustments increase immunity). Stay hydrated. Get 7-8 of sleep per night.
In short, relax. Stop worrying. Don't be a victim of scaremongering. I simply change the channel whenever I see/hear something about H1N1.
Enjoy yourselves, and have a great week.
